Kicking the season off in style
On the 2nd-4th of December we helped out at the Matlock Victorian Christmas weekend- a Christmas fair that takes place at the Hall Leys park in Matlock.
This year marked the 23rd year the market took place and boasted around 200 stall in 2 marquees across the park. Entertainment was provided throughout the three days with a mix of old favourites and new surprises for 2016- a great event for all of the family.
The weekend’s highlights included Santa’s Grotto, a Christmas parade and a celebrity light switch-on. The town was bustling and a total of 25,000 people attended over the 3 days. Local radio station Smooth FM also attended and played music at the event.
We enjoyed helping out at this great community event and were happy to lend a helping hand with the organisation and management. Local businesses really benefited from the fair with the town’s cafes and shops heaving throughout the duration of the event.
On the Facebook group page for the event there are many positive comments from visitors:
“First time here and it will not be my last.its lovely for all ages, nice to have the stalls under a big tent, lots to eat of all different foods.cant wait for next year but will make it a w/end so I can get everything in when I find a nice b/b.anybody got any ideas.”
“We’ve been two years running now. Good variety of stalls and reasonable prices. Great that it’s undercover with heaters! We missed seeing the elf on stilts this year. Overall a great atmosphere that adds to being part of our Christmas. We look forward to next year!”
“My daughter totally enjoyed herself and that is all we need to make it a magical day out.”
We look forward to helping out again next year and at the upcoming Christmas Market due to take place on the 17th & 18th in the same location. We do like to keep ourselves busy don’t we?
